Using AI to transform life sciences data analysis: An early look at CAILIN’s performance

COTA has launched the COTA AI Language Insights Network (CAILIN) to expedite data analytics. CAILIN is an oncology trained, on-demand insight generator designed to answer a variety of fundamental questions pertaining to data analytics, including specific cohort size, subgroup breakdowns, treatment sequencing, and event timing. CAILIN addresses these questions through training on COTA’s proprietary datasets while guided by in-house oncology expertise. CAILIN expedites access to data and oncology-specific insights across the pharmaceutical R&D life cycle and, in the near future, will provide additional ways to develop hypotheses and generate evidence.

To understand how well CAILIN performs against existing processes, we asked an internal cross functional user group at COTA and CAILIN an identical set of 40 oncology-related questions. We tried to simulate real-world working conditions by asking a variety of stakeholders, allowing multiple methods to find answers, and including typical workplace distractions. Ultimately, the goal was to compare humans’ and CAILIN’s ability to answer common disease cohort related questions.
