At COTA, we believe the future of healthcare is shaped not only by innovation and data but by people. Each summer, we’re excited to welcome a group of bright, driven interns who bring fresh perspectives, unique talents, and a shared passion for meaningful impact. This year is no exception.
Our 2025 intern class includes students from across the country, each contributing to different corners of our organization, from engineering and data infrastructure to finance and company culture. Though they come from varied academic backgrounds and personal interests, what unites them is a drive to learn, collaborate, and build something that matters.
Read on to get to know them and hear, in their own words, what they’ve been working on this summer at COTA!
Archita Sarin
Hi! I’m Archita, a rising junior at UC Davis majoring in Computer Science. As a Data Product Engineer (DPE) Intern at COTA Healthcare, I work within the DPE team to help maintain and enhance the large-scale codebases our internal teams use to efficiently generate product deliveries for clients. This summer, I am leveraging Python, Angular, and SQL to make the export generation process easier and the delivery configuration process faster for our product and operations teams. It’s been an amazing experience learning from my fellow engineers at COTA, and contributing to such meaningful work; I can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer brings!
Esha Bahal
Hi! I’m Esha, COTA’s People & Culture and Finance intern! I’m a rising junior at Colgate University, majoring in economics and minoring in psychology. On campus, I stay busy interning with the Career Services office, serving as a Senator in the Student Government Association, participating in multiple finance clubs, and dancing on a hip-hop team. I’m also a huge foodie and therefore love trying new spots in the city when I come into the office!
This summer, I’ve been working with both the Finance and the People & Culture teams. On the Finance side, I’ve reviewed vendor contracts and helped streamline the Board of Directors Monthly Finance Report. With the People & Culture Team, I’ve organized fun events such as Be a Kid Again Day and National Give Something Away Day. I’m currently working on multiple projects like analyzing the office budget, updating COTA HQ, and finding ways to make our workplace more sustainable. I’ve loved my time meeting everyone in the office, connecting with the other interns, and being part of such an awesome company culture!
Gavin Shi
Hi, I’m Gavin! I recently finished my third year at the Ohio State University where I’m majoring in Computer Science with a specialty in AI. I’m originally from Cleveland, but over the summer I’m working remotely in Columbus. Some of my personal interests are lifting, cooking, hiking, skiing, and traveling. Before I started my internship at COTA, I finished a three week solo backpacking trip in Vietnam and Indonesia (where the pictures are from).
Over the summer, I’m working as the Data Acquisition & Ingestion (DAI) iIntern at COTA. So far, I’ve worked on creating channels for warehousing data from providers. To accomplish this, I’ve learned how to leverage tools like Mirth Connect and Postgres for filtering, transforming, and viewing the data COTA manages. My main project for the summer is error logging for our channels. When processing handover files through Mirth Connect, it’s not uncommon to see hundreds to thousands of errors which are displayed in the log as individual messages making a high level analysis of warehousing errors extremely tedious to parse. The solution I’m working towards is creating easier to understand reports that group and categorize errors the DAI team runs into to make resolving them significantly more efficient.
