We are pleased to welcome new team members across the organization to help us deliver on our mission to bring clarity to cancer with data and analytics.

Throughout my tenure with COTA, we will continue to deliver best-in-class real-world data, and we won’t stop there. You will also see an expansion of our products and services for life sciences, providers and payers as we launch a revolution to fix healthcare with data and analytics. COTA is a mission-driven company. I’ve never seen such hard workers. They put in the hours, they put in the time, and the answer for why they do it is always the same,
“Because I would want someone to be doing this work if my family member was diagnosed with cancer.”- Miruna Sasu, President & CEO of COTA
Our People
Every employee is expected to demonstrate our core values, innovative, accountable, collaborative, inclusive, and fun at work. Our latest hires are no different. They are geographically, professionally, and culturally diverse, bringing new energy and enthusiasm to the team. The dashboard below is COTA’s north star for what we do and why it matters, and it’s an important part of our onboarding process.

What Makes a CO10
A CO10 (or a COTA team member) must be thoughtful, driven, and committed to our goal of bringing clarity to cancer. And why do we call ourselves CO10s? Because CO10s (pronounced co-tens) has a deeper meaning when you write it out. Data, when you break it down, is just a series of 1s and 0s that don’t mean much on their own. But when brought together, it has endless possibilities. COTA is filled with unique individuals who are working towards a massive goal, that can only be achieved by working collaboratively.

Bring on the Hedgehog

During a company-wide meeting years ago, we voted to call ourselves CO10s. A close second was, the Hedgehogs, that we instead used as our company mascot, affectionately called Hedgy the Hedgehog (follow them on LinkedIn).
Why a hedgehog? The story behind this decision is based on The Hedgehog Concept.
The Hedgehog Concept is based on an ancient Greek parable where the world was divided into foxes and hedgehogs. The fox knows many things but the hedgehog knows just one important thing. Business researcher and consultant Jim Collins developed the idea in his 2001 book, Good to Great. Organizations are more likely to succeed if they can identify the one thing that they do best, their “Hedgehog Concept.”
To find COTA’s Hedgehog, we looked at several things: understanding what our people are truly passionate about (the fight against cancer) and identifying what we do better than anyone else (creating high quality, clinically-relevant, oncology data and analytics).
Hedgehogs simplify their surroundings and focus on a single overarching goal. This is the same focus that we strive for at COTA.

The Future of COTA
The future for COTA, and the healthcare industry at large, is inclusive. To date, scientific advancements have only contributed to healthcare disparities in the U.S. and around the world. These disparities exist because of many factors, including proximity to quality care, socio-economic status, and racial and ethnic bias. COTA is committed to growing our diverse team to ensure a future where clinical trials are representative of patients in the real world and clinical care is equitable, regardless of who you are or where you live.
